The grief is complicated when the loved one is a child or an only child. Parents and families grieving the loss of a child need unconditional love and support. Grief is further complicated when a loved one is murdered at the hands of another.
Jesus has shown us that “though weeping may last for a night, joy comes in the morning, even if that morning takes years to dawn. Jesus shows us His love and comfort by sending family, friends, or an encouraging word to help through that moment or day. Jesus sends flowers, sympathy cards, a casserole dish from a neighbor, or a bible verse, to help ease the pain of loss. As we hurt, we pray to Jesus; as we weep, we praise our Lord; as we suffer, we turn to him with our questions of ‘why’? As we cry out in disbelief, we sing to Jesus. He is there with you every step of your emotional journey.
In the book, “Forgiving the Killer”, we learn the depths of the painful journey through loss, murder, resentment, and finally, forgiveness. Based on a true story, Johnny & Debbie McDaniel show us their intense eight-year journey through grief and loss--- to finding Jesus, and to freeing themselves from the prison within. Only Jesus can help parents and families through such heartbreaking loss.
